A NEW ERA

Background

LIBRARY HOLDINGS LLC (“LH”) has purchased the long-disused Jones Memorial Library building in Lynchburg, Virginia, with the intention of developing a boutique hotel to convert and complement the existing unique historical structure.

LH’s development team is comprised of talented individuals with many years of experience in designing, building, and managing a variety of quality projects, many of which have been hotels, that greatly enhance their surrounding environments. Together with local design firm CJMW and engineering firm Hurt and Profit, our goal with the Library is to develop a destination resort comprised of best-in-class lodging with approximately 90 guest rooms, 3 restaurants, a lounge, bar and spa. The boutique hotel will be modest in size so as to blend in graciously within the existing property and to enhance the City of Lynchburg.

Proposed Project

LH plans to renovate and rehabilitate the Jones Memorial Library building, 454 Rivermont Avenue, which is one of the most beautiful historic buildings in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Library, as locals are aware, has been decaying and sitting dormant for decades. Our project will preserve the original envelope and appearance of the Library while repurposing its full potential for the 21st century by creating a terminus for locals and visitors to gather for events routine and special. We believe the result will create a local sensation that will entice visitors from all the surrounding cities and the greater region to add the hotel to their bucket list of places to visit, stay, and/or dine. The Library will have a mix of upscale and casual eateries, bars, and lounge. We will develop the Library and adjacent property into a site-proportionate destination that we expect will be the most photographed and Instagrammed new preservation and development project in Lynchburg.

LH will bring the Library back to life and transform it into something everyone can enjoy on a daily basis. The project will become the feather in the cap of an area once considered “the place to live” and now already being revitalized in this proudly historic and fast-growing city. The Library project will continue to stimulate an already thriving economy by creating a large amount of multi-level jobs coupled with a great many visitors who will shop, eat, and visit throughout the City.

Vision

LH is determined to build the most sought-after event space and lodging within hundreds of miles specializing in weddings, graduations, reunions, meetings, and gatherings large and small. In addition to casual eateries, we plan on building the most romantic restaurant in the City with five-star food overlooking an elaborate classically-designed garden. Our lobby bar will be comfortable and inviting, while our hidden lounge will provide a more intimate experience with affordable pricing. Our rooftop lounge and rooms above the second floor will have unobstructed views of the city, bridges, and/or the James River. In like manner, the completed Library hotel will afford a pleasing prospect for anyone looking northwest from downtown.

So as to enhance local business all while creating a place for families to spend quality time together, we will allocate space for a farmers market on the grounds for local producers to showcase their food and crafts. In the winter, the same area will be converted into an ice-skating rink promoting fun and festivities. The Library and related buildings will be lavishly decorated for the holidays, further enhancing the experience for local visitors and tourism. We plan on offering specials to locals so as to be known as everyone’s second home. And because the Library Inn & Spa will be walking distance to downtown, local businesses will see a spike in foot traffic from our visitors and guests.

LH has submitted plans for on-site parking to alleviate neighborhood traffic concerns. We are working closely with the City on design and plan submittal, and we are actively soliciting comment from local residents to address any additional concerns or issues that may arise.
